Dataset of U.S. Electric School Bus Adoption

In this first-of-its-kind dataset, we're tracking commitments to electric school buses at the school district level, as well as details about individual buses, including the bus manufacturer and funding source(s) — with analysis of socio-economic characteristics, like poverty rates, racial composition and air pollution.

Electric school buses account for the lowest greenhouse gas emissions of any school bus type.

Even when accounting for electricity generation, on average electric school buses produce half the greenhouse gas emissions of propane- and diesel-burning school buses.
