K-12 educators from across New York state are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Spring Conference Centering Environmental Justice, Decarbonization, and Biodiversity on May 10, 2025 at no cost.

Hosted by the Educator Collective for Environmental Justice (ECEJ), SUNY New Paltz Sustainability Faculty Fellows, The Mid-Hudson Teacher Center, New York Master Teacher Program, and World Resource Institute’s Electric School Bus Initiative, the free full-day conference will take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EDT at SUNY New Paltz.

The first half of the day will feature educators from last year’s Environmental Justice and Decarbonization Summer Institute. They will share what they learned in the institute, how they used environmental justice and decarbonization content to bring new lessons into their classrooms, how their students responded to the material, and what they plan to do next.

The second half of the day will feature faculty from SUNY New Paltz who will share their story of the creation of Sustainability Learning for Action & Community Engagement (Palgrave Macmillan/ Springer Nature 2025) & Earthrise Commons. They will also dive into what sustainability looks like in higher education across a variety of disciplines and its connection with K-12 education.
